I live in a Northern City in England and I regularly see buses with a maximum of three passengers all socially distanced. However , if you see a bus with schoolchildren on it ,every seat is taken, no face coverings and therefore definitely no social distancing. Everybody knows that there is no social distancing for schoolchildren , but nobody is allowed to say it out loud. Why is it that nobody has seen the connection between this and the rampant spread of the virus among young people which is so bad that some schools are having to close.
Track and trace is another thing. People are getting told to self isolate for five days because they have been in close contact with someone with covid. Five days you say? It is quite common I am told because it takes a few days to locate the contacts. If you then cannot think of anyone that you have been in close contact with for 15 minutes but are being told you are it , you start to worry about the accuracy. So surely this is a good thing that the track and trace is self isolating people who have not been infected, surely it is better to be safe than sorry. Well , the problem now is that hospitality venues are having to shut because so many staff are self isolating.
Of course , if you have a senior position in government , the public will think that the rules don’t apply to you.
The whole thing is political and always has been and always should be. However, everybody knows that the deaths and hospitalisation levels are now politically acceptable . All adults will soon have been given the opportunity of two jabs and schoolchildren are really not at much risk. Inconsistent rules and application of the rules is the situation that we have now and that can’t be good for anyone.
