So the current blueprint for being Prime Minister or President in the USA seems flawed so maybe we need a new one . Let me refresh your memory on the current model.
Old white man with bad hair and seemingly a bit eccentric used to work well and the typical wife 24 your junior seems to hit the spot. So that is the image , next we need the policy.
Well you don’t actually need a policy , you just have to tell people that you will create jobs for the people that don’t currently vote for you , 25 million over ten years in the USA or “levelling up ” in the UK . You don’t actually have to get the jobs created , obvs, because this is to get the votes.
The problem is that if as they used to say “the honourable gentleman does not believe the words that he is saying” but we don’t live in that world so is that really relevant?
What happens when you get found out and it all goes wrong, well that doesn’t count if the votes in the mail were fraudulent or a mysterious herd instinct takes over.
So them’s the breaks , *coughs* , sorry , the “new rules”.
So let’s see who thinks that they fit the stereotype. Bookies generally have good instinct but they are not always right but who do they think is up for the job?
Well the favourite is Ben Wallace, you probably don’t know who he is . He hasn’t done anything , what’s the word , wrong , that’s it! He is the defence secretary.
Rishi Sunak is the runner up , but to be honest Chancellors want the top job but hey , I want to play football for England but would I be a good choice?
Tom Tugendhat , Penny Mordaunt, Liz Truss and Sajid Javid are the next ones.
You can sort of see why Boris hung on so long. Ok so Rishi is streets ahead of the others on personality and has a very slick social media campaign , but would you trust someone who puts petrol in the car of the petrol station’s staff rather than his own with the top job?
