We should have all realised from the start that we would be left with the two most experienced candidates. With hindsight it was just a shop window for a job in the cabinet for most of the candidates. Well to be fair, previously not many people knew who any of them were.
So why should you be confused. In the past we had conviction politicians , you did not necessarily agree with them and often didn’t but you respected their views and you respected the fact that their views were honestly held. It doesn’t really work like that now. The Tory Members will now be voting for the one that they think will get the next general election done. How strange that they have just kicked out the man that got a landslide victory who will not appear in the new Prime Minister’s cabinet, they have both actually said that.
So the first thing is who will they be up against? Well Keir Starmer is another politician who will be disappointed and if he is in charge of the party at the time of the next general election it will be handing it over to the Tories on a plate . So who will it be ? Possibly Rachel Reeves ? Remember chancellors don’t make good Prime Ministers so you are probably up with Angela Raynor.
Don’t forget , it is all about the power now so who will they choose? Socialist Rishi with a very wealthy wife? Really ? Should it matter how much money she has ? Rishi a socialist you say? Well look at his polices , Furloughing , the vaccine rollout , increasing the living wage , financial support for energy bills, you could have thought that he was in charge of Labour.
Or they could choose Liz Truss, the Liberal Democrat who is so desperate for power you can smell it.
Lets look at their policies, both Thatcherites. Remember her? It was not necessarily what she did , but the way that she did it. Not many people would want to have men , of course you have to say people nowadays , going down mines risking their lives and getting serious illnesses in later life. But to crush the unions and wipe out whole communities that took years to restore. Crafty plans like moving people out of rented accommodation into their own homes so if they went on strike and they could not afford the mortgage and lose their little bit of Britain. Remember “tell Sid”.
Don’t worry though , they are both Thatcherites so no thought process required there.
So predicting the result should be pretty obvious now, one will win with a landslide and the other one go off on a financially lucrative job overseas? Well one thing is for sure , the loser won’t be welcome in the other one’s cabinet.
Is it really that simple , not really because we are dealing with people.
