Yes it is that time again , the FIFA World Cup and it is 2026 . So how is everyone feeling about this?
It is the first one to be hosted by three nations USA, Mexico and Canada and that is looking good, well apart from the time zone not really fitting in to my life , but I guess I will just have to get over that.
So ,what is everyone talking about? Strangely at this stage it is about the number of teams and if you live in the UK , will you have to stay up all night to watch the matches.
48 teams instead of 32, 104 matches instead of 64 , 39 days instead of 32 ? A bit unnecessary , a bit money motivated? Most people think that it is too many at this stage but I guess the extra teams will quickly drop out from the competition.
Thomas Tuchel is the England Head Coach and his squad choice has raised a few eyebrows but that really is his job. He has to decide what will work and that will all be quickly forgotten if we do well.
Players to watch ? Definitely Harry Kane , Jude Bellingham and Declan Rice. But this is before the first match of this stage. In any world cup players star and sometimes it is not the ones that we are expecting to shine that do. Or maybe? as has been suggested , it is not about stars , but how the team performs together. It is a team competition after all.
So first things first, England need to get through Group L and I would be very disappointed if they did not do that.
So who will win? Well England of course ! I have hopes . France and Spain are also favourites and you have to consider Brazil and Portugal. The climate is going to be pretty hot for some matches so that may favour certain teams but , hey it is football , it just has to be England.
