So the first COP (Conference of Parties) was held in 1995 and it is pretty clear that we are only going to make some progress now because we have made such a mess of it so far. So according to Greta it is all words and empty promises, blah , blah , blah , so you might be wondering why she was not asked to open the conference. Over 25 years to sort out a crisis and the main person that has pointed out the lack of action seems to be a major embarrassment to those concerned.

Most people realise that money does not shout , it screams and the way to get change is to use the power of money. Some major progress has been made in some respects , over 25% of uk electricity comes from wind power and that is going to escalate quite quickly. Of course you can’t be reliant on one source of energy. One of our recent energy problems has been caused by a lack of wind. Renewables are the way forward and there are plenty of places to site energy farms in places that don’t really blight the landscape .

Now is the time for the politicians to take the lead and save the planet rather than involving themselves in nice and sleazy self interest.
I am not sold on heat pumps , they are expensive and not suitable for a lot of buildings. It is not just the initial cost that is expensive , they are not really that cheap to run once you have put them in place. Apparently electric cars will be affordable in five years time, really?
Maybe some cheap electric public transport would be a start , and some acceleration of the good things that are going on. You can’t just blame America and China, we have to take our part too.
