Good intentions , Good words , of course , who would not want to save the planet but it all gets down to money.
People say one thing but do another , look at all the opinion polls who get it wrong , when it gets down to it people look at their own finances and make their own decisions . Not saying that everyone does that but in order to get things sorted you have to bring the vast majority with you to get it over the line.
So why do people not drive electric cars? Well it is the cost and the time. Status symbols of the rich who keep the Range Rover for long journeys or to tow the tesla home if the other half can’t find a charging point in time. So that can’t be the way forward. Well you could get a Nissan Leaf you say, that is not bought as a status symbol , well no it is not but there is a reason why the people in Sunderland call them the Nissan Leeds.
Heat pumps you say, that will help . Well yes but it is down to the cost again . Costing from £15000 upwards I hear and probably obsolete in five years time so that is a healthy £3000 a year towards your heating costs. You will have to get used to wearing a jumper in the house as well.
So how do we stop the planet dying and in the meantime health problems for those who can’t avoid the pollution? We need infrastructure and real government incentives for people to go green as they say. You have to bring coal burning countries along with you . An almost impossible task for the parties , but we have to try , it is the future at stake.
