Yes , hip hip hooray ! That is what many employers in the England will be saying on 16 August 2021 when we bring the end to the pingdemic. So basically what is happening? if you are a child or have been double jabbed you basically won’t have to self isolate unless you have covid19. In common with many things that the government has brought in over the last 18 months the writing is not fully joined up because taking a test is not compulsory.
Nhs track and trace has been , well , actually , a total failure. Making people who did not have covid self isolate while children are running wild at school can’t make any sense to most people. Employers will be very happy at being able to plan their businesses with a bit more certainty.
The genie is now finally out of the bottle with bubbles and self isolation mainly a thing of the past. Let us all hope that it does not result in a massive increase in infections. The thing is that over 75% of the adult population are now double jabbed and making 500,000 people self isolate a week when the majority of them were not infected is bonkers.
One thing is certain about covid 19 , nobody actually knows how many people have had it. The only certain fact is the number of deaths and because of the way that those numbers are calculated there will be a reasonable margin for error. The point is though that with a large number of the population double jabbed and younger cohorts introduced to the plan we could actually be reaching herd immunity. The figures have been going down as more freedoms have been introduced when you would expect the opposite to happen otherwise.
