Is there a way out of this mess? Peter Cronin reviews the week.

I bet that not so long ago not many of you would have known who Sue Gray was but now we are in the incredible situation that politicians are unable to tell reporters if they were at a gathering as Sue Gray hasn’t told them if they were at a gathering. Seriously guys, if on that day you were with a group of people drinking wine , wearing a santa hat and tinsel , you should be able. to recall if you were there or not.

Novak Djokovic, currently doing the hokey cokey in australia. Another crazy mix up and another country that has to decide what is going on. Surely you can’t make exceptions for famous influencers that people look up to. People that should be setting the standards and not try to get special treatment.

The least said about Andrew the better.

The important story should have been about the real fuel crisis , not the one created by self interested people a few months ago. You can’t leave fuel prices to market forces at a time when we are moving to renewables at actually quite a rapid rate. The soviets should not be relied on as a source of gas and hopefully we will be self sufficient in fuel in the not too distant future. In the meantime if prices are passed on to the consumer there will be a real problem of heat or eat for a very large number of people. Martin Lewis , spot on the money on this one and if he can’t get the powers that be to do the right thing then I don’t know who can.

And the beat goes on , watching politicians at work , none of them coming out with flying colours.

Covid 19 now hopefully manageable despite the people who trust the science when it comes to taking up an icu bed but won’t take the vaccine that would have stopped them getting there in the first place. Before you start , the very small minority that can’t have the vaccine need to be protected by those who can , so even if you won’t do it for yourself think of others.

Another bleak January , the only way is up 🙂
