Peter Cronin says ” too many people have forgotten how far we have come in the last year”

It is only one year ago that we were told that we could go to work if we could not work from home. Previously you were only allowed to go to work if you were an essential worker. The days of only being allowed out of the house to do an hour of exercise a day are long behind us. Feeling imprisoned in our own homes was a bad place for most of us but if you were trying to bring up a family in a one bedroomed flat it must have been a nightmare.

Due to the success of the vaccine rollout we have a relatively free life and can even go to the pub and non-essential shops. The last year has seen a massive speedup in the online revolution and a nightmare year for shoplifters. The new mutations of the virus are cause for concern so why are people so bothered about the rest of our freedoms not being restored on 21 June? We really are in a fortunate position.

However, if you are going to lose your business or job if we do not restore the freedoms on the 21’st you will probably be asking why things can’t go back to normal. Hospitalisations and deaths due to covid 19 are a very small percentage of the population. You have to take a few risks in life if you are to be fulfilled , so what is going on?

What do you think? Which side of the fence are you on or are you simply in the middle?

Peter Cronin is a lifestyle blog written to challenge you and make you question things.
