The restrictions have been pretty much lifted in so far as most things are now advisory. Social distancing has been out the window for a while now and we are all. rejoicing that the crowds are back at sports events and the younger people have had their festivals.
This is the month that the schools go back and a lot of people have chosen to go back to the workplace. Furloughing ends this month so the pressure is really on to be back in the old ways.
The current hospitalisations and fatalities are now relatively low and we are all waiting to see if we get a third spike or whether we are now all pretty much in the clear.
The difference of course is the high take up of the vaccines. 88% have had the first dose and 79.9% fully vaccinated in the over sixteen category. That really is a great take up by the british people and if you add those who have not been vaccinated but had covid , whether they know it or not , surely we have reached herd immunity.
Let us all be hopeful as we move into winter with the world pretty much as it was before .I wonder if that will mean that people will be back to talking about brexit , tedious as that may be , it would be great to have something else on our minds following two years of the worst periods in most peoples lives.
