It is pretty obvious now that there is not a huge amount of fuel stored in filling stations , why would they ? They are the distribution points , not the storage facility. So basically my local filling station ran out of fuel even though there were no massive queues , just a steady stream of usage which was above normal.
Where does that leave us? Well pretty much where we were at this time last week because the fuel is still in the storage places and we still have the same number of drivers. What has changed is that some people probably have fuel at home which is not in their car , but probably not that many people are that stupid.The rest of the fuel is in topped up tanks rather than half empty ones.
Where does this leave us? Well apart from social media directing people to empty any fuel station that gets a delivery , many people will end up driving a vehicle with more fuel in it than usual. People will probably maintain these levels for a bit until confidence is restored. So once the excess purchases have been delivered things should go back to normal.
Human. behaviour is always interesting and it would appear that it is moving in one direction.
