Peter Cronin returns to “how to get a blog up and running in just a week “, three months on , any lessons learnt?

Three months ago Peter Cronin set out to see if you could get a blog up and running in just a week , so did it work and was it worth it?

The initial strategy was to get a reasonable amount of content up and not concentrate on the quality too much because with time older posts probably won’t get looked at that much and it is a process of learning anyway. Peter Cronin thought that if it was to be successful it needed to be original and not copy other people, so no research was done on what other people do. This was to stop the subconscious tendency to copy other people , it is such and easy trap to fall into.

The idea was to get his own photography out there and start a conversation which did not necessarily have to have anything to do with the pictures. Some people will be here for the photographs and some for the thought provoking words.

The timing was fortunate with brexit, covid football and olympics all being big in the uk. However , there are always things to talk about even though prior to brexit the main topic of conversation in the uk was the weather , or so it seems now looking back.

It probably does not count as a “lessons learnt ” but it quickly became apparent the huge amount of work that most bloggers put in to their work. Peter Cronin was never about big journalistic pieces that are not down my street and generally I don’t think many people want that any more. Soundbites and small chunks of information at a time are the way to go nowadays.

Things will change with time and there are some bigger stories that are currently being researched that will be hitting the blog shortly.

As with many things in life it is a learning process and things will probably look a little bit different in another three months time.

One of the things that was unexpected was the international interest as this is very much a story of someone living in the north east of england but photographs are international and many things such as a pandemic and sport are going to appeal everywhere.

Thanks to everyone who has supported the space and if you have any suggestions they will be welcomed or deleted 🙂

Peter Cronin is a lifestyle blog that will get you thinking.
