There are usually more than one ways than one to solve a problem and we do have a problem. How do you get yourself out of a lockdown situation. Going into lockdown is easy , you just shut up shop , but coming out is a different kettle of fish.
Supervising a lockdown is easy , you threaten big fines if people leave their houses and put the police on the streets instead of in their offices. A lone stranger on the street is relatively easy to control.
Coming out of lockdown by its very nature cannot be policed in the same way so you have to trust the public. This is relatively easy in some countries but in a liberal society such as the uk trusting the public to do the right thing is a bit of a hit and miss thing. Is there any choice ? Probably not but , are the public to be trusted?
Football stadia are now full to bursting point and social distancing is out of the window. This weekend the youngsters will be going to their festivals , full to bursting point and no social distancing . Their parents will be going to the theatre and the gym , I think that you get the way that this is going. So we have to rely on people to do the right thing and take their tests. Now no longer practical to do this in a supervised way because of the numbers involved. Not every venue will give you a refund if you test positive so there is a big temptation to not tell the truth. Umm are you allowed to say that nowadays?
So apart from the basic that you could get someone else to do the test for you , but why bother? You manually input the result of the test into the app. This is where we get to the point . Of course the scientists will have profiled the likely abuse of the system but it all goes ahead and frankly the government won’t care that this exists. In a liberal society there has to be a bit of give and take and accept that someone’s lack of respect for other people is the price that we all pay to pretty much go as we please most of the time.
