I have had my annual trip to the Newcastle Hoppings and I am pleased to say that it is better than ever. Lots of fantastic rides , an awesome atmosphere , which is what you expect in the North East of England , UK . I will take you on my journey at the biggest funfair in Europe.

The hoppings are back with a bang. The first thing that I notice was the size of a few of the rides. This Ferris wheel is absolutely massive and strangely there are not that many really big rides this year and that gave me an initial feeling that it was going to be disappointing , but I was so wrong.
Yes , just a few massive rides , but quite a lot of fairly big rides or if , not that big, ones that you won’t be wanting a large Sunday Lunch before getting on them.
You can see there are some pretty large rides this year , quite enough to get high in the sky , if that is your kind of thing.
This really shows how impressive this wheel is !
I spoke to these security guys who were really friendly and agreed to be part of the blog. I was impressed how sensitively the security is being done this year. It is not intrusive , but it looks effective.
I was impressed how they were talking to the young people explaining how they would be reunited with their parents if they were separated. The team looks quite big, but it is all about making everyone feel safe and happy on the day out.
I remember the old days of going to the Hoppings when some of the rides did not look that safe ! These all look new and well maintained and the operators gave the impression that safety is high on the list of priorities.
Busy but not too busy and so far this year the ground is in pretty good condition . I do remember years when wellington boots would be the best footware but this year it is ideal.

This ride is very fast and looked great fun.
I definitely would not be thinking of getting out of the car while it was in motion !
If you don’t want to end up like this , don’t get on the ride !

They had everything covered , so basically it just looks like a great day out.
